Hi Friends, I was singing through Ephesians 1:3-4 with a friend today, and I want to share with you a chorus we sang that is still ringing in my heart: I can feel Your hand upon my head What would you think of if I asked you to picture standing before God today? What is He like? Is He angry and scolding? Disappointed and distant? Sometimes our child-of-God imagination needs rewiring. A realigning with what is true of how He sees us and His heart for us. Ephesians 1:3 is one of my favorite pictures that brings this realigning: It’s a picture of us standing before our Father as He tenderly blesses us, His sons and daughters. This is not a fill your pockets with sweets and send you on your way kind of blessing. He’s no vending machine. I’m talking about an intentional, Fatherly, hand on your head, plenty-of-time-for-you, stored-up-just-for-you kind of blessing. Like a Father who prepares an inheritance for His beloved children, He releases to us every single spiritual blessing in Christ. Nothing withheld. He wants His children fully alive. It’s why He blesses us, corrects us (Hebrews 12:7), welcomes us (Matthew 19:14). He’s the kind of God who so loves that He gives. He pours out and keeps on giving. And if what I’m saying is true, if He is that kind of God and Father, then I imagine He wants us to claim it. To say it with our own mouths unashamedly: My Father loves me, I am His. He claims me. He chooses me. He blesses me. Let’s take the time to take it in: to feel His hand upon our heads. To feel Him, head to toe, release over us every single last spiritual blessing in Christ. –Anna |

Hi Friends, We pretend to be experts, you and I. We pretend to be vinedressers. We offer to Him what we are sure is treasure, and we sweep what looks to be rubbish under the rug. We take up the pruning sheers. We are a mess, and we know it. So we cut and we slice and we prune till we can stand back and feel pride, as though we have established some sense of order. But maybe we have not established order. Maybe we have merely cut off all that was growing. There’s one vinedresser, and He’s our...
Hi Friends, Have you ever noticed how quickly we decide what matters? Who’s successful. Who’s influential. Whose life is “making an impact.” We see the titles, the platform… and without even realizing it, we start assigning value. But God does something completely different. He takes what seems valuable in the eyes of man and turns it on its head. His ways are so very different than ours. Turns out, He put the most valuable thing of all completely out of sight. It doesn’t matter if you are...
Hi Friends, Last night I stepped out onto the back deck. To be honest, I was escaping the thunderous noise (oh the noise!) of three boys who felt bedtime looming and were attempting to squeeze just a few more minutes of play out the day. I stepped out into what has been one of the first warm evenings of the year, heard the birds singing in the forest beyond our yard, and I had what felt like an involuntary reaction. It felt like when the doctor hits your knee just right and you get surprised...
